Can A Man Live Without Sinning?

Can A Man Live Without Sinning?

Here is an invitation to dialogue, either in the comments on this page, or via email to us here at Closure for Jesus. Please ponder this question and feel free to give your insights.
Does God have the power to keep a person from falling? Is He able to keep us from sinning?
Blessings to all, and I’ll notify you all when the post on the exile of God is posted.

  1. God is omnipotent so anything is possible for Him. However, could He keep one from sinning without taking away the power of free will?

  2. Yes, is the answer to both questions
    under, “question(s) to ponder.”
    Absolutely! Positively! He is able.
    I am the problem. ( s – i – n )
A lack of faith, experience and endurance,
it really comes down to the “will.” If I choose to be free,
God will supply everything else, including the faith and desire.
    Do not give up!

  3. Apart from Christ we will fail. We must abide in Him. We cannot look at our failure or others failure and conclude it is impossible. We are not the example! One is our example Christ. How did He abide? Prayer and filling His mind with God’s word! Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might no sin agaist thee. Have we really fallen in Love with God??? For the Love of Christ constrains us. DA 668 All true obedience comes from the heart! Read this whole page if you want God to identify with our thoughts and aims. Love really takes time and denial of our desires and will to please our beloved. Can we deny our intrest and seek the Lord with all our Heart? Do we really know by experience “the joy of the Lord is your strength”? By beholding we are changed, what are we beholding? Let it be Christ!

  4. Addressing Thad’s question: Yes, God can keep a person from sinning without removing free will. Consider the following passages. “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.” Romans 6:12,13.
“Whoever abides in Him sins not; whoever sins has not seen Him, neither known Him.” 1 John 3:6
“As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried; He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him….It is God that girds me with strength, and makes my way perfect.” Psalm 19:30,32
All of these passages show that the individual has a choice, free will. Free will to choose to yield to God or to sin. Free will to choose to abide or not to abide. Free will to trust in the Lord to make my way perfect or not trust. And, yes, as “Anon.” and Caleb have indicated, free will to love God and prove that love by obedience. Jesus Himself said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15) No, God doesn’t keep a person from sin by removing free will, but by working with that free will in cooperative effort. It’s a matter of love…

  5. God does not take away my free will as I ask Him to keep me from sinning. Hebrews 11:15 clearly states, that if I had been mindful of that from whence I came out, I might have had opportunity to return. If I choose to return to my sin, as a dog to his vomit (Proverbs 26:11), I am free to do so. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 and Hebrews 11:16 state that we are mighty through God. If we desire a better, a heavenly, if we desire God with all of our thoughts, and we choose to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, Victory is ours by choice to unite to God’s Might. Praise His Holy Name!

  6. NO! everyone is given the power of choice, it’s like satan he chose to be the devil he was free to do so.

  7. great thoughts already posted.
    Jude 24 and 25 (NIV):
24 To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

  8. Yes, HE has the Power!!! Yes, HE has the power to keep us from sinning. However, He does not because HE wants us to obey HIM because we want too, and therefore leaves it up to us. However, when we pray and ask God for help – HE will instantly come to our aid, and stop the temptation when we ask for help.

  9. Satan has the power to tempt us to sin, if we do not believe our Lord has the power to keep us from willfully sinning , then satan is bigger then our GOD. Our Lord does not only have the power to save , but the power to change a sinners heart and life, ” I can do all things through Christ Jesus my Lord, ” all things my friends.
